Education Center Authority Board Minutes
The Education Center Authority Board was created through the Joint Powers Agreement, which functioned for both the County
and Contra Costa Community College District (known in 1971 as the Junior College District). The project under the purview
of the Education Center Authority Board was a six-story building with a total inside square footage of 34,300. The County
was to make use of 7,500 square feet of this area, which comprises the second floor. (June 2, 1971 minutes) This building
is now formally known as The George R. Gordon Education Center (May 23, 1973 minutes), or more informally as the District Office.
The Education Center Authority Board’s responsibility was to oversee the construction of this building and met from June 2,
1971, until its final meeting on October 3, 2001, where it adopted Resolution 2001-01, Conveyance of Assets upon Dissolution,
and executed a quit claim deed to the District.
