MARTINEZ, CA – At their March 9, 2011, meeting, the Contra Costa Community College District Governing Board approved the provisional appointment of Robert Calone of Pittsburg to represent Ward V. This appointment, in accordance with California Education Code 5091, is being made due to the vacancy created by the unfortunate passing of Governing Board Vice President Jess H. Reyes on Monday, January 31, 2011. Ward V includes the communities of Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel Island, Brentwood, Knightsen, Oakley and Pittsburg.

Mr. Calone will be seated at the next regular Governing Board meeting on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed in the office of county superintendent of schools within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment, the provisional appointment shall become an effective appointment until the next regularly scheduled election for Governing Board members in 2012.
