The mission of the Contra Costa Community College District is to transform lives by providing outstanding learning opportunities that nurture and empower all students to achieve their educational goals. Located in Contra Costa County, in the beautiful and diverse San Francisco East Bay area, the District serves the 1 million residents of the County through education, business partnerships, and service in the community. The District first opened its doors in 1949 and is the second-oldest and eighth-largest multi-college community college district in California. The District is comprised of three colleges and two centers: Contra Costa College in San Pablo; Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill; Los Medanos College in Pittsburg; and the centers in Brentwood and San Ramon. The District Office, located in downtown Martinez, supports the mission and functions of the colleges.

The District Office is the system-wide headquarters of the Contra Costa Community College District managing its business operations and supporting academic efforts across its colleges and centers. The District Office encompasses the following departments: Administrative Services, Chancellor’s Office, Educational Services, Facilities Planning & Construction, Finance Services, Human Resources, Internal Audit Services, Payroll Services, Police Services, Purchasing, and Research & Planning.

As evidenced by the rich variety in Contra Costa County, the District enrolls a highly diverse student population. Serving over 52,088 students a year, the demographic make-up of the students last year was 10% Black/African American; 17% Asian/Pacific Islander; 33% Hispanic/Latino; 29% White/Caucasian; and 11% Other. The District actively encourages a heterogeneous pool of applicants to serve the dynamic student population and work collaboratively with existing colleagues that are equally dynamic and distinct.

Contra Costa College (CCC) is the oldest and most diverse of the three colleges in the Contra Costa Community College District. A proud Hispanic-Serving Institution, serving predominantly Latinx, African American and Asian students, CCC is situated in a socioeconomically diversified, resilient, and culturally vibrant community. The college is located on 83 acres of a beautiful, naturally landscaped site accentuated by Wildcat Creek running through the rolling hills of San Pablo and Richmond. Since opening in 1949, CCC has provided exemplary educational services as the only institution of higher education in the West County area. The college’s Center for Science Excellence, The Advocate student newspaper, Middle College High School, and degree and certificate programs in fields such as automotive services, nursing, and culinary arts are known through the state and the nation.

Diablo Valley College (DVC) has distinguished itself as one of the nation’s most successful community colleges by offering incomparable transfer opportunities and exceptional career-technical programs and degrees, while responding to an evolving need for more robust adult basic skills and ESL programs. At both the Pleasant Hill and San Ramon locations, local and international students experience high-quality instruction and support services designed for student success. DVC’s many career programs are continuously improving to keep pace with emerging technologies and the new skills our students need to be successful in any job market. Los Medanos College (LMC) offers award-winning transfer and career education programs, stellar support services, and numerous learning opportunities in East Contra Costa County.
